Alibaba Confirms AI Smart Glasses Plan, Expected to Launch by End of 2025

According to a report by Wellsenn XR, Alibaba has finalized its AI smart glasses

project plan and is actively recruiting to expand the team. The product is expected to be

released by the end of 2025.

The report states that the project is mainly led by the Tmall Genie team under Alibaba's

Intelligent Information Business Group. The hardware specifications are said to surpass those

of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, featuring a dual-chip, dual-system architecture powered

by the Qualcomm AR1 chip and the Bestechnic BES2800 chip. This setup is expected to

deliver superior power efficiency and battery life.

The glasses will use the same Sony IMX681 CMOS sensor as the Ray-Ban Meta glasses,

offering 12MP resolution. The camera module is supplied by Luxvisions, while Luxshare

Precision will handle overall manufacturing.

Alibaba is reportedly planning two versions of the smart glasses: one without a display, and a

more advanced AI+AR version, which has been given higher development priority. The AR

version will feature a surface-relief grating diffractive waveguide and use a single-green Micro

LED optical module.

On the AI side, the smart glasses will be deeply integrated with Quark, Alibaba’s flagship AI

application. Powered by the Tongyi large model, Quark transforms traditional search functions

into an “AI super tool” that combines conversational AI, in-depth research, and task execution.
