Lenskart Teams Up with Qualcomm to Launch Snapdragon-Powered Smart Glasses in India

ree

Lenskart has officially confirmed its collaboration with Qualcomm to integrate Snapdragon XR chipsets into its next-generation smart glasses, marking a significant step toward mainstream adoption of smart eyewear in India. The announcement was made at the recent Snapdragon for India – XR Day event in New Delhi, where Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal revealed that the upcoming smart glasses would leverage Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, AR2 Gen 1, or W5 Gen 1 chipsets. This integration promises advanced AI voice features, lightweight spatial computing, and rich augmented reality (AR) experiences tailored for the Indian market.

Following the success of their debut "Phonic" smart glasses launched earlier this year at ₹4,000—which featured music playback, voice assistance, and up to seven hours of battery life—the new iteration aims to deliver heavier on-device AI, smoother spatial computing, and enhanced visual overlays. Qualcomm’s XR platform, now powering over 100 devices worldwide, enables these features with extremely low power consumption, allowing smart glasses to become a daily computing platform as integral as smartphones.

Qualcomm executives highlighted the strategic importance of these devices for India’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision, emphasizing empowerment in education, frontline workforce support, and digital inclusion. Localised AI innovation plays a key role, with Qualcomm working with Indian partners like Jio and Flipkart to incorporate large language models that understand regional languages and dialects, crucial for user experience in India’s diverse linguistic landscape.

Lenskart’s partnership not only boosts its competitive edge in wearable tech but also reinforces India’s emerging position as a hub for XR and spatial computing innovation. Currently, Indian consumers have limited choices in smart glasses, with Ray-Ban’s collaboration with Meta being a notable entry. Lenskart’s Snapdragon-powered smart glasses are poised to expand this market, offering a combination of stylish design, powerful AI, and accessibility.

With this launch, Lenskart aims to lead the charge in making smart eyewear a mainstream device, blending fashion, functionality, and cutting-edge AR/AI technology to transform how users interact with digital content every day.
