Vivo Vision MR Headset to Launch on August 21: Lightweight, Powerful & Poised to Rival Apple

ree

Vivo is officially stepping into the next era of human-computer interaction with the launch of its long-awaited vivo Vision MR headset, set to debut at the vivo Vision Launch Event and Imaging Festival on August 21 at 2:30 p.m.

The headset has been in development for more than four years, with vivo investing heavily to make mixed reality (MR) an integral part of daily life. Based on early teasers and hands-on reports, vivo Vision is shaping up to be one of the most advanced headsets in China — and possibly a serious competitor to Apple’s Vision Pro.

Lightweight Design, Flagship Feel

Product manager Han Boxiao recently shared his three strongest impressions of the device: it is extremely light, comfortable to wear for long sessions, and designed with an elegant, flagship-grade finish. Adopting an external battery design similar to Apple’s, the headset avoids unnecessary bulk, further improving portability.

The device is visibly equipped with six cameras for enhanced passthrough and interaction, positioning it as not just a wearable device but also as an enabler for robotics and next-gen MR ecosystems.

Hands-On by Zhu Guangquan: “Easy to Wear”

CCTV host Zhu Guangquan got an early hands-on at vivo’s MR experience hall, where the headset was being quietly tested among employees. Photos circulated online reveal the headset’s branding as the “Explorer Edition” with the slogan “Easy to Wear.”

Zhu’s demo highlighted the intuitive two-finger pinch gesture, similar to Apple’s approach, running on a powerful Qualcomm 4nm platform for smooth performance.

Top-Tier Specs, Competitive Price

According to reliable tech blogger Digital Chat Station, the vivo Vision’s display specifications rank among the best in the industry. Combined with its lightweight design and high-end hardware, the headset is expected to deliver one of the market’s most refined MR experiences.

Despite these premium credentials, the price is said to remain under CNY 20,000 (approx. ₹2,30,000), making it relatively competitive when compared to rival offerings in the ultra-premium MR segment.

The Bigger Picture

For vivo, the Vision headset represents more than a product—it’s a signal that the brand wants to stake its claim in the future of human-computer interaction. With MR technology positioned as the “eyes of robots,” vivo’s ecosystem ambitions extend far beyond entertainment and into productivity, real-world integration, and AI-driven applications.

🔜 All eyes are now on August 21, when vivo will finally reveal its full Vision for MR and officially enter the global race for the future of spatial computing.
