MediSim VR and HIMS Launch State’s First AI & VR Medical Simulation Centre

Dehradun is witnessing a major leap in medical education with the launch of Uttarakhand’s first-ever Center of Excellence in AI and Virtual Reality (VR)-based Medical Simulation at the prestigious Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS). This cutting-edge facility, a collaboration between MediSim VR and HIMS, is set to transform how future healthcare professionals learn and hone their clinical skills by providing immersive, risk-free, and highly interactive training environments.

Inaugurated during the 10th annual SIMULUS event at HIMS, with collaboration from AIIMS Rishikesh, the centre embodies India’s push towards integrating advanced technology in education as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member of NITI Aayog, officially opened the centre, endorsing the wide adoption of AI and VR in healthcare learning after witnessing a live demonstration.

This Centre of Excellence not only serves HIMS students but also extends its resources to medical learners and professionals across Uttarakhand, significantly boosting regional capacity building. Dr. Ashok Kumar Deorari, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Swami Rama Himalayan University, highlighted how the centre offers a safe and realistic virtual environment to develop clinical competence, critical thinking, and innovative skills, preparing learners to excel in global healthcare systems.
