The future of education in India is about to take a bold leap forward. Gyan Dhara, developed by IIT Guwahati in collaboration with MadVR Solutions, is India’s first VR-enabled metaverse for schools. Designed to make learning immersive, interactive, and curriculum-driven, Gyan Dhara is set to be released soon on the Meta Store, free for all to access.
At the heart of this metaverse lies Gyan Prangan—a central orientation space where learners enter, explore, and connect with different modules. From here, students can navigate into specialized learning environments such as:
Sound Gyan Kaksha – exploring echoes and reverberation through playful VR simulations.
Gravity’s Grip – understanding gravitational forces across planets.
Zero Gravity Labs – experiencing physics concepts in a weightless environment.
This initiative is more than just technology—it’s about democratizing access to quality education. India has over 25 crore children in government schools, many of whom lack resources to be future-ready. Gyan Dhara aims to empower 150 million children with experiential learning that goes beyond exams, focusing instead on conceptual clarity, problem-solving, and collaboration.
Gyan Dhara represents a new frontier in edtech innovation
With more spaces, modules, and experiences coming soon, Gyan Dhara is poised to become a global benchmark for metaverse learning ecosystems.
