At the SPIE Photonics West 2026 held on Jan.20th-22nd, Chinese innovator Goertek
unveils the F50Se - a full-color AR optical waveguide display module with a 50° field
of view (FOV). This innovation makes AR glasses slimmer and lighter.
F50Se: 50° Large-FOV Silicon Carbide Waveguide
The F50Se uses high-refractive-index silicon carbide to overcome the 30° FOV limit
of conventional glass waveguides. Combined with advanced grating design and dry
etching, it eliminates common artifacts like ghosting and rainbow effects for cleaner
visuals. Integrated with a compact LCoS optical engine, it achieves over 1,500 nits of
eye-box brightness - providing a lightweight AR solution with vivid color, high
brightness, and an immersive large-screen experience.
Live Demonstrations
Goertek also features several key products during the exhibition:
• F30Se: A 0.65 mm thin silicon carbide etched waveguide
• F15Pi: Lightweight full-color resin waveguide
• F25Ge: Module optimized for outdoor and industrial use
• Slim MR Pancake module for mixed-reality device
