September 11, 2011, marked the humble beginnings of underDOGS Studio. With no funding, no roadmap, and no certainty, a burning passion and a dream to bring Indian games to the world stage was all they had. Fast forward fourteen years to September 11, 2025, and that very date has become a defining moment in their incredible journey.
Today, on their 14th anniversary, underDOGS Studio has unleashed the live-action trailer for their groundbreaking console title, Mukti. This isn't just another game reveal; it's a testament to unwavering dedication and a bold step into uncharted territory for the Indian gaming industry.
For the first time ever, an Indian console title seamlessly blends live-action performances with gameplay, blurring the lines between cinema and gaming. This ambitious undertaking, never before attempted at this scale in India, showcases the studio's courage to dream beyond what seems possible.
The newly released trailer, which offers a thrilling glimpse inside the spooky museum setting, features an impressive cast. Ahilya Bamroo, known for I Want to Talk, takes on the role of the protagonist, Arya. Indian theatre veteran M. K. Raina (as Dr. Vikram Roy), Pawan Chopra (as Commodore Balraj Gill), and Sraman Chatterjee (as Hasan) also lend their talents, adding a cinematic depth rarely seen in Indian games. Players will step into Arya's shoes, exploring the enigmatic museum in search of her grandfather.
But Mukti's ambition extends far beyond a single game. It represents underDOGS Studio's bold move into building a transmedia IP, designed to expand across various mediums. Their belief is simple: a powerful story deserves to live in every format.
This monumental achievement wouldn't have been possible without incredible support of Sony Interactive Entertainment team. Mukti is a proud part of PlayStation’s India Hero Project, an initiative launched in May 2023 specifically to nurture and support developer talent from India.
For the team at underDOGS, this moment transcends the trailer itself. It encapsulates 14 years of relentless effort: sweat, sleepless nights, countless failures, and triumphant comebacks. It's a tribute to a team that refused to give up and a belief that has only intensified with each passing year.
Looking at Mukti today, it's clear it embodies everything underDOGS has stood for since 2011: passion, resilience, and the courage to chase the impossible. This is a proud moment not just for the studio, but for the entire Indian gaming industry, signaling a new era where Indian stories can reach every screen, every heart, everywhere.
Mukti is set to launch in 2026. Don't miss out on this groundbreaking title – wishlist it now and be part of history!
