Worldbuilder, an innovative intellectual property spearheaded by Avinash Kumar, is revolutionizing the way we confront the climate crisis by merging immersive technology with traditional media. Launched in 2025, this pioneering platform unites technologists, traditional creators, and storytellers to craft experiential narratives that awaken the world to the urgency of global warming.
Worldbuilder bridges the gap between environmental storytellers and immersive tech experts where interdisciplinary teams are atsked with developing "provotypes"—provocative prototypes that challenge how we engage with climate stories. Similarly, the Delhi edition explored heritage preservation through XR, gaming, and speculative design, showcasing the power of transmedia storytelling.
By leveraging advanced tools like Unreal Engine and integrating Indian classical arts with cutting-edge XR, Worldbuilder creates immersive worlds that go beyond passive awareness. The platform’s vision transforms traditional filmmaking—adept at documenting reality—into participatory experiences using VR, AR, and interactive narratives. This fusion empowers creators to build believable, culturally rooted stories, from Bangalore’s ecological challenges to Delhi’s historical legacies, fostering a deeper, embodied understanding of our planet’s future.
With events featuring luminaries like Anirudh Kanisetti and Jayalakshmi Eshwar, and support from Epic Games and Samāgata Foundation, Worldbuilder plants seeds for a global movement. As it evolves from a catalyst to an incubator and platform, the initiative promises to incubate projects that could redefine environmental advocacy, urging the world to act before it’s too late.
