According to the latest report released by IDC, global smart glasses shipments are
projected to reach 14.773 million units in 2025, representing a year-over-year increase
of 44.2%; Among these, the Chinese smart glasses market performed particularly
strongly, with shipments reaching 2.46 million units — a significant year-over-year
increase of 87.1%. Chinese manufacturers accounted for 23.3% of global shipments.
Currently, continuous advancements in optical solutions, the gradual integration of
artificial intelligence, and rising user acceptance are collectively driving the market
from its initial growth phase toward widespread adoption. Domestic tech giants such
as Huawei and Xiaomi, along with automotive brands like Li Auto, have launched
smart glasses products. Meanwhile, manufacturers like Xiaomi and Rokid are
accelerating their expansion into overseas markets, establishing distribution channels
in multiple regions.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, driven by factors such as concentrated product launches
by new manufacturers, promotional seasons, and the inclusion of smart glasses in
national subsidy programs for the first time, China’s smart glasses market shipped
679,000 units, a year-over-year increase of 57.1%. Entering 2026, market momentum
remains strong. Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that from January
to February, nationwide online retail sales of goods and services grew by 9.2% year-
over-year, with online retail sales of smart glasses surging by a staggering 183.5%
year-over-year.
Industry insiders note that product lightweighting and AI integration have built
momentum for widespread adoption. Currently, mainstream products generally weigh
between 40 and 50 grams, offering a wearing experience close to that of traditional
glasses, while 50.5% of products now support large-model voice assistants.
Looking ahead, the market is expected to maintain a high growth rate of over 70%.
However, sustained efforts are still needed in balancing battery life with wearing
comfort, achieving breakthroughs in optical display technology, and building an
application ecosystem to truly unlock the user value of smart glasses. (Source: VRAR
