Amazon Eyes Dual AR Play: Driver Productivity & Consumer Experiences on the Horizon

Amazon is reportedly making a significant push into the augmented reality (AR) market, developing two distinct sets of AR glasses: one for consumers and another designed to boost the efficiency of its delivery drivers.
According to a report by The Information, the consumer-focused AR glasses, codenamed "Jayhawk," are targeting a late 2026 or early 2027 release. These glasses are said to feature microphones, speakers, a camera, and a full-color display in one eye, potentially leveraging AR technology from Chinese company Meta-Bounds. The "Jayhawk" project appears to be Amazon's direct entry into the consumer AR space, aiming to offer a richer interactive experience.
Meanwhile, Amazon is also developing a separate AR model, internally known as "Amelia," tailored specifically for its delivery drivers. This productivity-centric device could be ready as early as the second quarter of 2026. Sources suggest "Amelia" is designed to shave precious seconds off delivery times, indicating a clear focus on operational efficiency and optimization for Amazon's vast logistics network.
