The “Pavilion of Prince Teng” VR project in Nanchang, developed by
China Mobile Virtual Reality Center in collaboration with BlueFocus Group, has
attracted over 10,000 visitors since its launch. The project uses modern digital
technologies to recreate the millennium-old landmark, offering an immersive
experience of the Tang Dynasty Pavilion feast and the creation of the “Preface to the
Pavilion of Prince Teng.”
The core experience zone spans 500 square meters, leveraging LBE large-space VR
and millimeter-level 3D modeling to faithfully replicate the Pavilion and Tang-era
scenes. Visitors can watch professionally choreographed dances from Beijing Dance
Academy, interact with reconstructed Tang instruments such as the drum and four-
stringed pipa, and “play” ancient music with simple gestures.
In the immersive theater segment, participants can ascend the pavilion with a virtual
“Wang Bo” avatar, hearing the preface recited amid the bustling riverside scene,
experiencing the poet’s mindset and cultural resonance. The project also recreates
the iconic “setting sun and lone wild goose” scene and supports multi-user
interactions for shared enjoyment.
Since its debut, the project has been showcased at the Digital China Summit and on
international tours in Sweden. Officials from Jiangxi Mobile noted that the project
exemplifies the fusion of traditional culture and modern technology, promoting the
digital and international expression of Jiangxi’s cultural IP and contributing to the
province’s cultural development.
