Maharashtra Launches MIDCCA to Boost Animation, Gaming, and Immersive Content Ecosystem

The Maharashtra Immersive and Digital Content Creators Association (MIDCCA) was formally launched at the fifth edition of the Animation & More (AM) Summit 2024 in Mumbai. This new body aims to bring together professionals from the animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, education, and extended reality (AVGCE-XR) sectors to foster growth, innovation, and collaboration within Maharashtra.
Key highlights from the launch:
Official Launch: The MIDCCA was inaugurated by Maharashtra’s Development Commissioner (Industries) and MAITRI chairman, Deependra Singh Kushwah, IAS. He was joined by Ashish Kulkarni (FICCI AVGC-XR Forum chairman, Punnaryug Artvision founder) and Anil NM Wanvari (AnimationXpress founder).
Economic Growth: Kushwah highlighted Maharashtra’s economic goals, noting the state has surpassed a GDP of $500 billion and aims for $1 trillion by 2030, driven by sectors like AVGC-XR. The state leads in foreign direct investment for the past two years.
Policy Announcements: The state plans to introduce a dedicated AVGC policy within the next 2–3 months to provide tailored support and incentives for digital content creators.
Infrastructure Development: Plans include establishing an apex institution (M Hub), setting up six Centres of Excellence (COEs), and multiple industry programs to develop the AVGCE-XR sector.
Industry Guidance: MIDCCA’s leadership emphasized the importance of the association as a platform for knowledge exchange, training, policy advocacy, and nurturing new talent. The association promises to support professionals, encourage innovation, and act as a bridge between government, academia, and industry.

Promoting education, innovation, and social impact through workshops and knowledge-sharing platforms.
Creating industry programs and partnerships to foster growth and talent development.
Advocating for favorable policies and supporting member welfare.
Positioning Maharashtra as a global leader in AVGC-XR content creation and talent.
Memberships are offered to corporates, institutions, professionals, students, and industry partners, providing access to resources, networking, training, and opportunities tailored to each group.
With backing from the Maharashtra government and key industry leaders, MIDCCA is positioned to drive the next phase of growth for digital content creators in the state, making Maharashtra a leading hub for animation, gaming, and immersive media
