India’s ambition to become a global hub for medical technology took a decisive step forward on April 22, 2026, when former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the Atal MedTech Museum & Library at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), Visakhapatnam.
A Hub for Innovation
AMTZ has already established itself as a comprehensive ecosystem—housing prototyping labs, regulatory support, and manufacturing infrastructure. The new museum and library add a cultural and educational dimension, showcasing India’s MedTech journey from its early stages to today’s cutting-edge innovations.
Naidu emphasized that such institutions reduce import dependence and align with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, strengthening India’s global competitiveness in healthcare manufacturing.
Immersive Experiences
The museum integrates AR/VR simulations and holographic overlays, offering visitors insights into how advanced visualization technologies are transforming surgical precision, diagnostics, and training. A 3D experiential showcase narrates the life and vision of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, underlining his role in shaping modern, innovation-driven India.
Knowledge Infrastructure
The RFID-enabled library houses 1,100+ books, journals, and clinical resources, making it a vital hub for researchers, startups, and medical professionals.
Industry Partnerships & Self-Reliance
Naidu also announced new collaborations with IKSANA and Medpolis, reinforcing AMTZ’s role as a “mini-India of innovation.” His visit included a tour of Wadi Surgicals, a nitrile glove manufacturer scaling production to 3 million gloves per day, underscoring India’s rapid ascent in healthcare manufacturing self-reliance.
Voices from the Ecosystem
AMTZ Founder & CEO Jitendra Sharma highlighted the zone’s unique ecosystem that integrates innovation, research, and global trade linkages. Wadi Surgicals’ MD K. Anindith Reddy echoed Naidu’s vision, stressing that AMTZ enables Indian-made medical products to reach global markets.
