IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has unveiled a breakthrough in medical technology with EchoPulse, an AI and VR-powered device designed to accelerate heart disease diagnosis.
Developed by Professor ACS Rao from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, EchoPulse leverages artificial intelligence to study heart scan images, detect patterns, and provide doctors with rapid insights into cardiac function. Unlike conventional methods that depend heavily on manual checks and large pre-labeled datasets, EchoPulse learns directly from scan data, saving valuable time in clinical settings.
🔍 Key Features of EchoPulse
AI-driven analysis: Automatically interprets heart scan data to detect critical signs of cardiac health.
Explainable AI: Offers transparency by showing doctors how conclusions are reached, avoiding the “black box” problem.
VR visualization: Provides interactive 3D views of heart activity, helping clinicians and researchers better understand complex conditions.
Clinical efficiency: Estimates vital measures such as blood-pumping efficiency, aiding early diagnosis and treatment planning.
💡 Impact on Healthcare
Professor Rao emphasized that EchoPulse transforms complex medical data into clear, actionable insights. This makes advanced cardiac testing more accessible, particularly in regions with limited medical resources. By combining AI precision with VR immersion, the device bridges the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical healthcare delivery.
💰 Funding & Support
The project has secured a ₹47 lakh research grant from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), underscoring its potential to reshape India’s healthcare innovation landscape
