An incredible journey unfolded at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Kattankulathur) from September 15–19, 2025, where faculty, research scholars, and students came together to explore the frontiers of AR/VR, holography, and large language model (LLM) integration which was powered by Madras Mindworks. This immersive program was designed to equip participants with the tools and insights to build next-generation interactive experiences that will shape the future of education, research, and industry.
The weeklong engagement brought alive the possibilities of merging spatial computing with generative AI, enabling applications that range from immersive classrooms and medical training simulators to intelligent holographic assistants and collaborative metaverse platforms. The sessions blended theory, hands-on practice, and forward-looking discussions, sparking curiosity and innovation across disciplines.
Inspiration from the Cohort
One of the most memorable aspects of this initiative was the energy and creativity displayed by the participants. Professors, deans, scholars, and students jumped in enthusiastically, engaging with tools and concepts that pushed the boundaries of traditional learning. Their innovative ideas—whether in designing immersive educational ecosystems, envisioning holographic research collaborations, or integrating AI-driven interactivity into extended reality platforms—were nothing short of inspiring.
Looking Ahead
Programs like this are only the beginning. As AR/VR and AI technologies continue to mature, SRM IST is well on its way to becoming a hub for immersive innovation in India. The seeds sown during this week will undoubtedly grow into cutting-edge solutions, research breakthroughs, and transformative applications that extend far beyond the classroom.
